Sovicille
It stands on the eastern slopes of the Montagnola Senese, a place of great importance in the history of the Republic of Siena.
One of the main monuments on the territory of Sovicille is the small church of Ponte allo Spirito (San Giovanni Battista), a Romanesque chruch with a nave and two side aisles; near there are the ruins of the cloister of a Gothic rectory.
It is almost impossible to mention all the castles, palaces, small churches, towers and the historical sites surrounding the territory of Sovicille, throughout the very labirynth of woods of the Montagnola and the slopes of the plane (Montarrenti, Palazzo al Piano, Brenna, Tonni and also Simignano, San Giusto a Balli, Pernina as well as many others). Anyone of them may be the destination for a walk in order to meet and acknowledge the wonderful landscape of this territory together with its history and people. Finally may we mention the two most beautiful rivers of this Province: Merse and Brenna. Many fishers as well as bathers crowd their waters throughout the year.

It was built between 1182 and 1268, over the hut on the hill where Saint Galgano lived during his last year and where he fixed His Sword in the Stone. After a slow period of decay, in 1550 its lead roof was sold.

Siena
According to the legend, Siena was founded by Senio, the son of Remo one of the founder of Rome.
Nontheless, the research on the origin of the name of Siena - one of the most beautiful cities in Italy and in the world - still continues.
Some researchers link it at the Etruscan family of Saina, some others at the Roman family of Saenii. Since it was a Ghibelline city, it often had to “measure swords” with the Florentine Guelphes in epic fights throughout the history of medieval Italy.
One of the most famous battles took place in Montaperti on Sept. 4th, 1260 when the Sieneses defeated the Florentines.
The city reached its splendor in 1300, when most of the civil monuments were built and the first attempt to build the Cathedral took place. Siena is a jewel  of extremely rare beauty with its magnificent Tuscan Gothic buildings and also thanks to its Piazza Il Campo, one of the widest and wolrd’s most beautiful places where the most ancient horse race takes place. Twice each year on July 2nd and August 16th, 17 “contrade” (city wards) of Siena compete for the “Palio”.

Monteriggioni
It is an ancient completely battlemented castle, with its absolutely unique structure; it has been preserved through the ages and is mentioned also in Dante Alighieri’s Divina Commedia.
